HomeCare instructions
— Long view
The label inside the garment is the final word. These are the principles behind it.
Every brand publishes a care label sewn into the seam. The symbols are the maker’s instruction; everything below is general guidance that should never override what is printed inside the piece.
Cool wash, gentle spin, line-dry where possible. Reshape while damp. Iron on the cotton setting. Avoid tumble drying — heat shrinks the fibre and breaks the elastic at necklines.
Hand-wash or wool-cycle in cold water with a wool-safe detergent. Dry flat — never on a hanger; the weight pulls the shoulders out. Pill removal: use a cashmere comb, not a razor. Store folded with cedar to keep moths off the fibre.
Most padded jackets prefer a specialist clean once a season; check the label before home-washing. If home-washable, use a down-safe detergent and dry on low heat with two clean tennis balls to re-loft the filling.
Wipe leather with a damp cloth and condition once a season. Suede and nubuck use a soft brush only — water marks. Trainers and canvas: spot-clean, never machine-wash, replace insoles rather than soaking the upper.
Clean before storing — moths feed on body oils, not the fibre itself. Cotton bags or breathable garment bags only; plastic traps moisture. Keep cool, dark, and dry.
Worth doing. The brands we carry are designed to be repaired — write to atelier@kidsfashionlabels.com and we will route you to the maker’s after-care programme or a recommended independent menders.
